Senator Lanza’s office has joined with community health organizations, local elected officials, school administrators and concerned citizens to launch the Staten Island Quits Campaign. Despite recent drops in youth smoking rates, Staten Island still has the highest youth (14.7%) of boroughs. Unfortunately, Staten Island also has the highest adult smoking rates in the City. Together we can make a positive impact, reverse these appalling statistics, and help our whole community live healthier lives by becoming tobacco free. The Staten Island Quits Campaign plays a direct role in supporting New York State reach the goal of reducing the number of smokers by one to two million by 2010.
